This class is an introduction to weighted blankets and the skills and techniques you need to confidently sew your own.
Weighted blankets have become a common tool in addressing issues related to autism, anxiety, ADHD, sleep disorders and more, but with a few medical exceptions, the blankets can be beneficial to anyone with or without a diagnosis.
For maximum benefit, weighted blankets should be customized for their intended user, and that’s where sewing your own can be most useful and cost effective. In this class, you will learn about the best materials to use, how to determine the best size and weight for your blanket, how to care for your blanket, and even how to make a blanket that can grow with your child. We ask that you be familiar with your sewing machine, and in sewing straight lines.
Fabric Crush has top of the line materials to create a custom weighted blanket. For this class, blankets will be limited in size to a maximum of 40 inches wide (suitable for a large adult) and up to 60 inches long. You will mostly likely be able to finish a child-size blanket in class, and will make significant progress on an adult-size blanket plus have the necessary skills and instructor support to finish at home if necessary. Please do contact the instructor before purchasing materials for help in choosing the right amounts for your blanket.
